Villa boss Steve Bruce fumes after Adomah is denied penalty in Leeds United loss

Aston Villa lost for the first time under their new manager Steve Bruce today, going down to a 2-0 result at Elland Road against Leeds United.

Goals from Kemar Roofe, his first for the Yorkshire club, and Chris Wood proved enough for Leeds to get the win.

Villa put in a good performance in the game but, in the end, Leeds had the better killer instinct in what was a tough fixture for both teams.

Villa were simply not ruthless enough in front of goal, but Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce also felt they were unlucky not to get a penalty.

Albert Adomah went in to a challenge with Leeds goalkeeper Rob Green in the first-half and felt he was fouled.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce clearly feels the same, telling Sky Sports after the game:

“It looked (like a penalty) to me but there were two shouts that we had.

“But I am a million miles from it and in hindsight, when you see the TV monitors, certainly on Albert it looks like he’s flattened him a bit and it looked dubious to say the least.”

Aston Villa’s boss may feel he was harshly done by but there is no doubt that a penalty decision against Leeds would have been harsh in that situation.

Aston Villa will need to be more clinical in the attacking third in their next Championship clash against Wigan Athletic if they are to get back on track immediately.
