Egypt’s number one goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary claims their 2018 World Cup qualifier against Ghana on Sunday November 13, will be the Pharaohs’ gateway to the World Cup.

Egypt will host Ghana on Sunday at the Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria in the second round of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers as the seven-time African champions will be hoping to take a step towards making their third World Cup appearance and their first since 1990.

The skipper stressed that all players are focused enough to ensure they secure maximum points on Sunday and open a bigger gap ahead on the Group E table.

“All the players are focusing on the next game. We consider it our first game in the qualifications since the Congo game is now in the past,” El-Hadary said, according to the Egyptian Football Association website.

“Our match against Ghana is the most important in this stage and the players are determined to win as they consider it Egypt’s gateway to the World Cup.” The 43-year-old goalkeeper concluded.

The Pharaohs, who defeated Congo 2-1 in the first round, will be looking to keep their spot on top of Group E when the Black Stars come to Alexandria. The Ghanaian team were held to a goalless home draw against Uganda in the first round.
