Feature: Black Stars cannot win AFCON 2017 without a glittering majestic Asamoah Gyan

If you do not like Asamoah Gyan don’t hate him. You need Gyan; you need his crucial goals; and you need Gyan for how he makes football look gorgeous and sexy with his sumptuous celebrations.

When you talk about Asamoah Gyan to the future generations say: he is a game killer, he is contagious; he is bubonic; he is subtle; he is unceasing or devastating

In the second AFCON 2017 Group D game that Ghana won 1-0 against Mali, Asamoah Gyan scored with a great header from a tasty cross produced by Jordan Ayew. The Aston Villa man received the ball at the edge of the Malian 18 yard box and on 1V1 situation, he created space by himself at the wide position and crossed the ball for ‘Baby Jet’ Gyan to fly and head the ball home like an eagle in its majestic flight.

Asamoah Gyan has been the savior and goal scoring sting artist for the 10 year period of almost success of the Black Stars in world football. All the managers who have succeeded as Black Stars’ coach kept faith in him.

The above fact is, we can never stop discussing his incredible wizardry goal scoring record and beyond that no Ghanaian player has ever come closer to 50 international goal mark but Gyan has 49 now

When you are asked to think of Asamoah Gyan’s greatest individual moment in the Black Stars team, the iconic individual  brilliant goal against England at Wembley, the one against Germany at World Cup 2014 can be well remembered and how about his first and Ghana’s first goal at the World Cup against the then dreaded Czech Republic in 2006? In frankness, we can keep reminding ourselves of a host of his goals to prove that, without doubt, Gyan is a legend in Ghana shirt.

To this day, the foundation of the Black Stars has been built on him. Coach Ratomor Djikovic who started the project 10 years ago, built the team on Gyan. It is why Ghana chances of winning a game are always 100% reliant on Gyan.

Without Asamoah Gyan’s goal scoring prowess at the AFCON 2017, it will be impossible for Avram Grant’s team to bring home the trophy for the first time in more than three decades. If he is to be out of the team (God forbid) it would be a disaster. It would kill the hope of the team and the nation.

If Ghana does not win AFCON 2017, the accusations will fly everywhere but it would be down to Asamoah Gyan not glittering in a game. Any time the Black Stars channel its energy through Gyan the team is rewarded with victory.

Undoubtedly, Ghana has gone into a tournament with players capable of doing great things but they need that dependable ‘match winner’ and it is what Asamoah Gyan offers on a silver platter.

I get sick and tired of useless comments like that. We need all the eleven players on the field to win games. Every time he scores a goal then all of a sudden the Asamoah kiss ass entourage start making noises. We also need Dede Ayew and everyone else. If the GFA has made conscious effort to find another striker, we would have had several of them, all capable of scoring goals so we do not have to depend on him alone, but they are all in Asamoah's pocket trying their best to make him Ghana's sole striker. Dwamena could have easily upstage him in a big stage like AFCON and what did the GFA do? drop him to prevent that from happening. We know the game the GFA is playing, Ghanaians are not stupid. All other strikers they have ever brought in were mediocre at best and never even played, so shut up with your propaganda.
