Expect an improved performance from the Black Stars against Mali - Oti Akenteng

The Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association has moved to assure fans of the team that the national team will be at their glittering best when they face the Eagles of Mali today in the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.

The Black Stars laboured to a 1-0 win over bogey-side Uganda in their opening match but Akenteng has tipped Avram Grant's side to improve drastically today against Mali.

"We were found wanting in the tactical and technical aspect of the game against Uganda," Akenteng told Asempa FM.

"The Ugandans were more efficient in terms of their tactics than we were on the day.

"We played well in the first half, but they dictated [the pace of] the second half.

“We have taken notice of that and so we are working on that. The team will be different in our next game against Mali.

"Mali is also a very strong side, so we are going to approach our next game with all seriousness.

"[We have taken into consideration all the] mistakes of the last game, and so Ghanaians would see a different Black Stars in our next game."

Ghana will move into the quarter-finals with a win over Mali today ahead of their final AFCON 2017 Group D clash against record 7-time champions Egypt.
